Glamping

Winfrith

The Purbeck Glamping have a great location ideally located in Dorset:

Winfrith is situated in the picturesque village of Winfrith Newburgh in the stunning Purbecks, with glorious countryside views and easy access to the Jurassic Coast.

An ideal base for touring out to explore Dorset and all it has to offer.

JURASSIC COAST

The Jurassic Coast is a hugely diverse and beautiful landscape underpinned by incredible geology of global importance.

In 2001 it was inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for the outstanding universal value of its rocks, fossils and landforms. It remains England’s only natural World Heritage Site.

The Jurassic Coast begins at Orcombe Point in Exmouth, Devon, and continues for 95 miles to Old Harry Rocks, near Swanage, Dorset. This span takes in four distinct geographic regions – East Devon, West Dorset, Weymouth & Portland and Purbeck – each containing their own iconic towns, villages and natural landscapes.

The Isle of Purbeck area of Dorset is the jewel in the crown of the coastline with world famous sites such as Old Harry Rocks, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door all within easy reach of our site.

STUNNING WALKS

The South West Coast Path is the big one, and you can pick up a stretch of it only 3 miles from Winfrith.

The local lanes and downs around Winfrith are covered in ancient walking routes with odd names - Daggers Gate, Five Marys, Scratchy Bottom, Man o War.

The classic walk from us is over to Durdle Door, then along to Lulworth Cove for lunch and back over to us. A round trip of about 3 hours walking.

PUBS & RESTAURANTS

There are pubs tucked away all over the area.

Within easy reach of Winfrith is The Sailers Return thatched pub at East Chaldon (20 min walk or 2 minute drive). Also of note, but a little further out is the Square and Compass at Worth Matravers.

Wareham, Corfe Castle, Dorchester and Studland have amazing restaurants within easy reach of Winfrith.

Poole Quay, Wimborne Minster and Christchurch are well known for the quality of their restaurants, cafes and pubs and withing easy reach of Fairway.

Bridport and Lyme Regis are real foodie destinations but a little further afield.

SEA SIDE RESORTS

Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned sea side resort. Dorset has a hat full of bucket and spade resorts.

Bournemouth and Poole are home to the top rated beach in the UK with the huge bay ending in the world famous Sandbanks peninsular.

Studland Bay has a stunning National Trust series of protected beaches that can be reach from both Winfrith and Fairway in about the same time. This is also the base for sea kayak adventures out to the stunning Old Harry Rocks.

Swanage and Weymouth have a traditional seaside feel with pleasant stretches of golden sands married to interesting old towns to mooch around.
